Recycle fashion didn't start with bags, but they certainly gave the concept of recycling in fashion a decisive impetus. In 1993, brothers Markus and Daniel Freitag in Zurich used an old lorry tarpaulin and a used seat belt to make a messenger bag. Time passed and the lorry tarpaulin bags became a total hit in Switzerland and were followed by a whole wave of large and small bags made from recycled materials: Purses that were milk cartons in a past life. Shopping bags that formerly existed as fruit juice cartons.
