NatarGeorgiou

For my work experience i decided to work for Dimos Natar and Andreas Georgiou. Two very successful Fashion designers world known, specializes in wool. The time i was with them they were finishing their collection spring/summer 2015 and preparing their new collection winter 2016.

Their atelier is placed down town in Makariou street. It's a big store with bright lights. The first thing that you see when you enter the store are the clothes and the woollen bags. Right from the door there are the fitting rooms and Andreas Georgiou and Dimos Natar office. Upstairs it's their work place. They have two tailors, Andreas is responsible for the patterns and Dimos for the knitting. They own a knitting machine a doll that inflates and goes from size 8 to 12.

Our first assignment was to add knitting details to some traditional fabrics. The initial fabric was handmade with chisel. Those fabrics was made the 20th century for dower. When we add the knitting details the result was unbelievable.. The fabric changed entirely, it became something new, beautiful and total fashionable! Those handmade outfits was from their previous collection and because it was a real success they had special orders from Paris. The feeling that i was working in an outfit that was already sold somewhere in France was exciting but i was also a little worried because i wanted to do a good work and a good impression.

NatarGeorgiou in my opinion stand out from all Cypriot fashion designers because of their ideas. They take a simple fabric and transformed it to something entirely new, unique and authentic. I had to confessed that they are the most talented fashion designers i ever met. I admire their imagination and the way they work, no doubts why they are so successful. Andreas and Dimos are also very nice people, happy, social and interesting. 

The most excited experience for me the week i worked with them it was when i tried out their new collection. It was uncompleted at the time but still amazing. This collection intended for a fashion show in Paris and i was the first person i tried it out! The most Fashion designers don't let anyone see their collection before the first fashion show but Andreas and Dimos was cool with it. 

I learned a lot from my work experience but the most important thing was that with good will, hard work and imagination you can do everything. Also in Fashion department if you want to succeed you must find something unique to stand out from the rest, something new, you must break the stereotypes..
